FIA make late Sepang change after unusual circuit mistake
Image via RacingNews365The FIA has rectified a mistake regarding the pole position grid slot at the Sepang International Circuit, where it was incorrectly painted on the left side of the start-finish straight. This error was identified during preparations for the Bahrain Grand Prix, leading to a prompt correction by the FIA to restore the traditional pole position on the right side of the track.
The miscommunication in documentation resulted in the initial incorrect markings, which were covered and repainted to reflect the historical configuration. The adjustments also included moving the start line to ensure proper timing and distance measurements. These changes were completed ahead of the weekend's racing activities, marking the return of Formula 1 to Sepang after a six-year hiatus.
