FIA grants no new engine concessions after second review

The FIA has completed its second assessment of the Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) system, concluding that no engine manufacturers qualify for new upgrade opportunities. This decision follows the initial review, which allowed Red Bull-Ford to set the performance benchmark while Mercedes and others received varying degrees of homologation based on their performance gaps. The assessment evaluated performance through the Hungarian Grand Prix and confirmed that existing concessions from the first review remain intact.

Despite the lack of new concessions, Mercedes is preparing to introduce an upgraded engine at the upcoming Monza race, where Kimi Antonelli will incur a grid penalty for a new engine. The FIA's director acknowledged the thoroughness of the assessment but indicated that the ADUO system may undergo further refinement. The next assessment will take place after the races from Zandvoort to Mexico City, raising questions about the effectiveness of the catch-up mechanism in the championship.
