Max Verstappen engineer holds F1 paddock meeting with McLaren boss

Gianpiero Lambiasi, currently Max Verstappen's race engineer, has agreed to join McLaren in 2028. He was recently seen in discussions with McLaren CEO Zak Brown during the Spanish Grand Prix, although the details of their conversation remain undisclosed. McLaren is actively seeking a way to bring Lambiasi on board sooner than his current contract with Red Bull, which runs until late 2027.

In preparation for Lambiasi's eventual departure, Red Bull is planning for a transition of responsibilities. Tom Hart is anticipated to assume some of Lambiasi's duties, including serving as Verstappen's race engineer. This transition is expected to begin before Lambiasi's full departure, with Hart already stepping in for a session at the Italian Grand Prix.
