Police investigate cable theft at Madring

Spanish police are currently investigating the theft of approximately 300 metres of cable from generators at the Madring circuit, which is set to host its first Formula 1 Grand Prix in September 2026. The theft was discovered in a tunnel area of the 5.4-kilometre track, and while no arrests have been made, the authorities have not indicated that this incident will affect the upcoming race schedule.

The circuit recently completed two days of Formula 3 testing, which demonstrated that the cars could run and the main operational systems were functioning. Despite the theft, preparations for the Grand Prix continue, although the incident adds an unexpected challenge for the organizers as they finalize arrangements for the event.
