Red Bull's engine fate hanging in the balance
Image via the-race.comRed Bull Racing is awaiting crucial announcements from the FIA regarding engine upgrade opportunities ahead of the Italian Grand Prix. The FIA's second round of analysis will determine whether Red Bull can introduce new specifications based on its performance from the Monaco to Hungarian Grands Prix. If found to be more than 2% behind its competitors, Red Bull could gain development chances, but if it remains ahead, it will miss out on upgrades until the next ADUO period in 2026.
The situation has been contentious, as Red Bull was previously identified as the benchmark engine, limiting its development options. FIA director Nikolas Tombazis has suggested that while the current measurement system has its flaws, it has proven accurate. The upcoming decisions will significantly impact Red Bull's strategy for the remainder of the season and into the winter months.
