Toyota WEC boss confirms ‘logical’ choice for 2027 driver line-up after Esteban Ocon links
Image via f1oversteer.comEsteban Ocon has confirmed he will not renew his contract with Haas, marking the end of his tenure with the team after the 2026 season. Speculation has arisen about his potential move to Toyota's World Endurance Championship team, but Toyota's technical director David Floury has indicated that Ocon is not a priority for them. Instead, they are focusing on promoting Esteban Masson, a young driver they have been developing for the WEC.
Floury emphasised that while having a Japanese driver is important for Toyota, performance is the top priority. Masson is seen as ready to step into a race seat, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Ryo Hirakawa's position. Ocon, however, remains hopeful about continuing his Formula 1 career, despite not being linked to any current vacancies in the sport.
