Briatore criticized judge Filippo Marchino, alleging connections to McLaren, which prompted a strong rebuttal from McLaren's team principal, Andrea Stella, who defended the integrity of the FIA's ruling process. Briatore hinted that Alpine may explore further options, although the FIA's decisions are typically final and cannot be appealed directly. The situation remains complex as Alpine claims they were unaware of Marchino's alleged ties until after the hearing. The FIA's International Court of Appeal operates under strict vetting procedures for its judges, and the outcome of this controversy may hinge on whether any new evidence can be presented. As the F1 community watches closely, the potential for further developments in this case looms.the-race.comFri 4 Sep · 19:15 UTCvia RacingNews365McLaren and Alpine clash over Monaco GP appeal outcomeA dispute has erupted between McLaren and Alpine following the FIA's decision to uphold McLaren's appeal regarding the Monaco Grand Prix results. As a result, Gasly's position in the race classification dropped from third to seventh, leading to Alpine losing nine points in the constructors' championship while Racing Bulls gained four points, creating a 13-point shift in their standings battle for fifth place. This ruling also impacted the drivers' standings, particularly affecting those ranked from seventh to eleventh. Gasly now finds himself 16 points behind Liam Lawson and has seen his lead over Arvid Lindblad cut down to 10 points. The decision, made on September 4, 2026, has broader implications for the competitive landscape, although the top teams like McLaren and Red Bull experienced only minor gains.Motorsport.comFri 4 Sep · 12:35 UTCvia gpfans.comFernando Alonso fires warning to F1 and finally reveals what will make him stay at Aston MartinFernando Alonso has expressed concerns about the current state of Formula 1, stating that it does not meet the expectations of drivers or fans. He emphasized that his decision to remain with Aston Martin will depend more on the regulations than on the performance of the car itself, as the team struggles in the constructors' standings. Alonso has been critical of the new regulations, labeling the 2026 cars as the worst he has seen, and he hopes to influence future changes in the sport. As the Italian Grand Prix approaches, Alonso faces challenges, including potential battery issues at the Monza track and Honda's admission of being underpowered compared to competitors. Despite scoring points in the previous race, the outlook for Alonso and Aston Martin remains uncertain as they continue to seek improvements and navigate the current regulations.gpfans.comFri 4 Sep · 11:27 UTCWikimedia Commons · nabtifal · CC BY 2.0ICA decision-2026-06-07-08-09 – Hearing 25 08 26 – McLaren and Red Bull - 2026 FIA Formula One World ChampionshipSport news Hearing Case ICA-2026-06-07-08-09: Appeals lodged by McLaren Racing Limited and Red Bull Racing Limited against Decisions No. 1 and No. 2 dated 12 June 2026 contained in Document 99 of the Stewards of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, counting towards the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship. On 7 June 2026, having received reports from the Race Director of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, counting towards the 2026 FIA Formula One Word Championship, the Stewards decided to impose two five-second time penalties to Car No. 10, driver Pierre Gasly (Documents 73 and 75) for pit-lane speeding during the Race in breach of Article B1.6.3a of the 2026 FIA Formula One Regulations - Section B. On the same day, the Stewards received two petitions for Review under Article 14 of the FIA International Sporting Code from BWT Alpine F1 Team in respect of the aforementioned decisions of the Stewards of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix. On 12 June 2026, the Stewards determined that there was a significant and relevant new element that was unavailable to them at the time of their decisions contained in Documents 73 and 75. They decided to rescind both 5-second time penalties imposed on Car No. 10 (Document 99), amend the Race Classification (Document 100) and recalculate the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championship points (Document 101). On 16 June 2026, McLaren Racing Limited and Red Bull Racing Limited lodged an appeal against the above Stewards’ Decisions before the ICA. Decision of the International Court of Appeal The Court, after having heard the parties and examined their submissions, decided to: - declare the appeals admissible; - grant the appeals and set aside Decisions No. 1 and 2 dated 12 June 2026 contained in Document 99 of the Stewards of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix counting towards the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship; - declare that the two five-second time penalties imposed on the driver of Car No. 10, Pierre Gasly, by Documents 73 and 75 stand, and exercising the powers conferred by Articles 14.12.1 and 14.12.2 of the Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, reimpose them; and - order the competent Sporting Authority to draw, as appropriate, the consequences of this ruling, including the amendment of Documents 100 (Revised Final Race Classification) and 101 (Revised Championship Points). The International Court of Appeal was presided over by Mr Michael Grech (Malta), and included, Mr Tomas Borec (Slovakia), Mr Luigi Fumagalli (Italy) and Mr Filippo Marchino (USA/Italy). The full decision is available here . Their seat is based in Paris. Mike Krack, the chief of Aston Martin, expressed that this race could lead to unprecedented levels of overtaking, as drivers will likely rely heavily on slipstreaming during both qualifying and the race itself. He emphasized the importance of managing energy effectively to maximize performance on the track. Krack also noted that the recent races have varied in their energy management demands, with the Belgian Grand Prix receiving criticism for its impact on car behavior. He is hopeful that the Monza race will not repeat the issues seen in 2019 and expects a dynamic race with significant passing opportunities.
