Ferrari boss issues take on mooted F1 regulations proposal
Image via Motorsport WeekFerrari's team principal, Frederic Vasseur, has expressed skepticism regarding the FIA's proposal for spec-power units for customer teams in Formula 1. He highlighted the challenges of achieving competitive performance under the current cost cap, despite the notion that building an engine might not be overly complex. Vasseur's comments come as the FIA considers significant regulatory changes, including the possibility of introducing independent engine manufacturers to support non-works teams, amid ongoing criticism of B-team arrangements within the sport.
Additionally, Vasseur pointed out that while Ferrari currently supplies engines to teams like Haas and Cadillac, the realities of the F1 landscape make it difficult for new engine suppliers to compete effectively. The FIA President has also hinted at a potential shift back to V8 engines, indicating a willingness to explore various options as the sport evolves.
