Image via Motorsport WeekIsack Hadjar is recovering from a wrist injury sustained during the summer break, which has caused him to miss three Formula 1 races. Red Bull has been utilizing Liam Lawson as a substitute driver in Hadjar's absence, and Lawson has performed admirably, achieving his best finish of P6 at the recent Madring circuit. Red Bull's team principal, Laurent Mekies, has indicated that Hadjar's recovery is progressing well and that the team will prioritize his health over a rushed return to racing.
The team plans to evaluate Hadjar's fitness for the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix in about a week. Mekies emphasized the importance of ensuring Hadjar is fully recovered before returning to the cockpit, stating that they will assess his condition and possibly put him in a simulator to gauge his readiness. Meanwhile, Lawson has expressed the challenges of adapting to different cars and the uncertainty of which vehicle he will drive in future races.
