Scrutineering
Scrutineering is the FIA's technical inspection of cars, checking they comply with the regulations before and after sessions.
Checks cover dimensions, weight, wing flexibility, fuel samples and plank wear under the floor. A car found outside the rules is disqualified from the session regardless of intent — the standard is compliance, not honesty.
Post-race checks are usually on a sample of cars rather than all of them, which is why a result can change hours after the flag.
