Russell trying to understand why Mercedes 'didn't feel the same'
Image via Formula1.comGeorge Russell experienced a significant drop in pace during the Qualifying session for the Singapore Grand Prix, following a crash in the Sprint race. Despite leading the Sprint, Russell crashed into the pit wall after touching the kerb, which led to a rushed repair job by Mercedes for Qualifying. Ultimately, he could only manage the sixth fastest time but will start from the back of the grid due to an engine-related penalty.
Russell expressed confusion over the lack of pace, stating that his car did not feel the same as it did during practice. He acknowledged the challenges ahead, especially in comparison to his teammate Kimi Antonelli, who had successfully raced from the back of the grid in previous events. Russell is hopeful of scoring points but remains realistic about the difficulties posed by the track and his starting position.
