'We are where we should be' – Norris on Singapore Qualifying
Image via Formula1.comLando Norris and Oscar Piastri of McLaren shared their thoughts on their qualifying performance for the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix. Norris secured fifth place on the grid, expressing that this position reflects their current capabilities, as they continue to struggle to match the pace of the leading teams. He highlighted the challenges of driving the car to its limits without risking a crash, while also acknowledging the gap to polesitter Max Verstappen.
Piastri, who finished seventh in qualifying, will start sixth due to a grid penalty for George Russell. He mentioned that the MCL40 lacked the performance needed to compete with Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes. Despite some mistakes during the session, Piastri remains hopeful for improvement in the race. Both drivers are focused on maximizing their performance in the upcoming race despite the difficulties faced during qualifying.
