Black and white flag
The diagonally divided black and white flag is a formal warning for unsportsmanlike driving — the next offence will carry a penalty.
Shown with the car's number, it is the stewards putting a driver on notice: repeated track-limits abuse, weaving on a straight, or defending too aggressively. It carries no time loss on its own.
It functions as a yellow card. A driver who has seen one and then repeats the behaviour should expect a five- or ten-second penalty rather than another warning.
