Chicane
A chicane is a tight sequence of corners in alternating directions, usually built to slow cars at a point where speed would be dangerous.
Most are deliberate interruptions rather than natural features — inserted before a fast section, or to break up a straight that had become too quick for the run-off available.
They reward precision over bravery, and they are where kerbs matter most: the fastest line through one usually involves riding as much kerb as the car will tolerate.
