Paddock
The paddock is the restricted area behind the pit garages where the teams' motorhomes, hospitality and offices sit for a race weekend.
It is where almost everything that is not driving happens: engineering debriefs, media sessions, contract conversations. Access is by pass, and the tiers of pass are their own hierarchy.
"Paddock talk" as a phrase means exactly what it sounds like — the rumour layer that travels between motorhomes and reaches print a few days later.
